It's very important that we have good attendance at this film festival, for the following reasons;

The Frick Auditorium is the best University of Pittsburgh facility for screening films. It's an actual movie theater with 200 seats. Other recent nationality events were relegated to much smaller classroom-type settings. We had to fight hard to get the Frick, telling the University that we expect to have a strong showing. If we have a poor turnout, we won't get the Frick in the future.

UCOWPA wants to make this an annual event. But we will do so only if the Western Pennsylvania Ukrainian community shows an interest in such events. It takes a lot of time and money to organize such an event, but it will have been worthwhile if we get a large audience.

There is a large Ukrainian presence in Western Pennsylvania, but it's scattered throughout our local communities with little interaction. One of UCOWPA's missions is to unite these disparate groups into a cohesive unit. That is the main reason why we have organized this film festival.
