Jurij Fedynskyi, a Ukrainian-American musician, is touring about 50 cities across the US and Canada to promote traditional Ukrainian kobzars' spiritual and cultural heritage.
He will perform a concert and lecture on his experience of kobzaring (traditional Ukrainian music played on the bandura, kobza, and torban) while in a war zone.
The Pittsburgh concert will take place on May 12 at 8 pm in Heinz Memorial Chapel.
Admission to this event is free, but donations are welcome and appreciated.
The event is a fundraiser to support Ukraine's defense efforts. Donations and CD sales go to purchasing and directly delivering supplies to the Ukrainian army on the Eastern front and to funding the Poltava Kobzar Guild's tours of the front and mission to revive Ukraine through reviving the kobzar tradition.
Donations are accepted through cash, check, or PayPal. All donations over $100 are tax-deductible through the charity "Kobzar Armada Inc.". Checks can be made out to Jurij Fedynskyj or "Kobzar Armada Inc". PayPal donations can be sent to jurij_fedynskyj@hotmail.com .
